Gluten Free, Oat Free, Buckwheat is What's For Breakfast

Pumpkin Buckwheat Hot Cereal for Breakfast please! Pumpkin Spice lovers, this one is for you. And no, I do not discriminate on the time of year. It gets served up year-round over here. 

This is the perfect bowl to wake up to. Both gluten-free and a great alternative to oats; it is warm and hearty. It also is quite enjoyable in the evening. The sweetness of the maple syrup and the spice of the pumpkin makes for a warm treat. 

Cooked in just minutes using the microwave, which is my preferred method if cooking for 1, this is a super simple staple bowl.

Pumpkin Buckwheat Hot Cereal

Equipment

  • Microwave

Ingredients

  • 40 g Buckwheat Hot Cereal
  • 50 g Canned Pumpkin
  • 3/4 c Water
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • dash Cinnamon
  • 8 g Chopped Pecans

Instructions

  • Weigh out buckwheat cereal in bowl and cover with ¾ c water.
  • Microwave for 30 sec increments, stirring each time, until water is absorbed and is starting to thicken. 1 min 30 sec seems to be perfect!
  • Add in pumpkin. Microwave for another 30 seconds. 
  • Let sit for 1 min as continues to thicken adding in maple syrup, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice seasoning. 
  • Sprinkle crushed pecans on top.
